Get Better with Happy Tails!

Welcome to my blog. Today I am participating in Kylie Bertucci’s International Blog Highlights. The theme is encouragement. I’ve decided that sending a get well card to a friend is a form of encouragement! I love the new Happy Tails Bundle and decided to use it for this card. (My friend has a beautiful Golden Lab.)

Participating in the blog highlights is something of a competition. I hope you’ll check out Kylie’s blog and vote for my card. If I am in the top ten, I’ll be able to participate in an International Blog Hop later in March. Just click here or on the banner below.

My card is Number 7. Click on the heart that will be in the upper right hand corner. (Not the one on my card, I just realized that might be a bit confusing!) Thanks!

Kylies International Blog Highlights, March 2019

Design Notes for Happy Tails Card:

To add a little interest to this card, I first stamped the dog on Very Vanilla card stock, then colored him in with the Light Crumb Cake Blends marker. Then, I punched the dog out from the card. Next I placed the stamped doggie on the inside. This is called the Inside out technique. Oh, I highlighted his nose and eye with a Journal Pen.

To finish off the card, I sponged the sentiment and backed it on a piece of Early Espresso card stock. Both pieces were punched out with the Tailored Tag PUnch.

Beauty Abounds with Modern Grid

Do you recall that a few weeks ago I showed you a card I made using a technique called Modern Grid? (See it here.)  It’s pretty cool. I’ve been working on other cards using this same technique and want to show you one of those cards today. I also have a video tutorial for you. The stamp set, Beauty Abounds is from the Occasions catalog and a perfect set for this technique.

Design Notes for Beauty Abounds Card:

Well, for some reason, known by no one, I used a different stamp set in the video. However, the technique I used on today’s card is the same as I demonstrate in the video. For today’s card, I added a touch of Wink of Stella to the butterflies.

Fable Friends for Spring Greetings

“If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?”  I guess after all the recent wind, rain, snow and general cold weather, I am needing a little spring. The so sweet stamp set, Fable Friends, seems to have just the right things – baby ducks and a spring welcome.

The layout for this card was inspired by this week’s challenge over at Global Design challenge. Click here or on the banner to go to the website and check out all the great cards and projects.

Design Notes for Fable Friends Card:

I loved making this card. I got to color! What fun. After I stamped the Mama and baby ducks with Basic Gray, I used some Watercolor Pencils to color them in and then used a Blender Pen to soften and even out the colors. When I put some card stock behind the image, it looked a little flat. Simple Stripes Embossing Folder to the rescue. I embossed a piece of Whisper White card stock – twice. It was embossed one way then the other. Next, I used a Stamping Sponge and some Balmy Blue ink to highlight the stripes. Just the right touch, don’t you think?

My last touch was to add some Gingham Gala Designer Paper to the envelope flap.

3″ x 3″ Note Cards – Two Versions!

A few days ago, I showed you a darling little box I made to hold 3″ x 3″ note cards. I wanted to show you the cards thay I made to go in the boxes. I had such a good time, I made two different sets. To see the box, look here.

3 x 3 Note Cards, Floral Romance Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, diannescards.com

3 x 3 Note Cards, Floral Romance Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, diannescards.com

Design Notes for 3″ x 3″ Note Cards:

I made the Note Cards themselves from Whisper White card stock. If you use regular, 8.5″ x 11″ card stock, you will have lots of waste since you need to cut 3″ x 6″ If you used 12″ x 12″ card stock you will be able to cut 8 from each piece of card stock and no waste!

The 3″ x 3″ Envelopes fit perfectly. (They are just a tad bigger than 3″ x 3″.)

I used various pieces from the Floral Romance Designer Paper and then added a sentiment, backed with some Mossy Meadow. Some cards had ribbon and some had paper punched with the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch. I added a few sequins to some cards and Petal Pink Rhinestone Gems to others. Gotta have a little bling!

The 3″ x 3″ Envelopes fit perfectly. (they are just a tab bigger than 3″ x 3″.)

Note Card Box with All Things Thanks

I have an event coming up and have been thinking about a little hostess gift. The other morning I saw a video from Ronda Wade where she created a darling note card box from one sheet of card stock. Love at first sight! And an answer to my query.

Isn’t this so cute?

Design Notes for Note Card Box:

First things first. You have to have a Stampin’ Trimmer or Simply Scored Board to make this box. There is a fair amount of scoring for this. Here are my scoring/cutting samples.

Note Card Box, Stampin' Up!, diannescards.com

Note Card Box, Stampin' Up!, diannescards.com(Sorry, not sure why I turned the paper after I added the cutting lines.)

I added some Tear & Tape as indicated.

Note Card Box, Stampin' Up!, diannescards.com

Just fold the sides over, and then adhere with the Tear & Tape. I added Designer Paper before I assembled but it really doesn’t matter. It’s easy to add after you assemble the box.

The decorative part was fun. You know how I love to heat emboss and used this as an opportunity to dig out some copper accents. The ribbon is from the Tea Room suite and the edge of copper was just too perfect. One option for the box is to wrap the ribbon around and then untie it to open it. I did tie the ribbon around but put a glue dot under the bow. Then all the recipient has to do is pull the ribbon off from the back, without untieing.

You can see the ribbon here.
