Parcels & Petal are Pretty Pretty!

Parcels & Petals. Are you looking for the parcels? There is a set of dies that coordinate with this stamp set. You can create a little box with the dies. Today, I’m just using the stamp set for a fun, gate fold card. (Soon, I’ll show you the dies and the wonderful things you can create with them.)

Design Notes for Parcels & Petals:

Gate fold cards are just the kind of card I like to make. They are easy to do and yet look somehow more special.

Do you have the new Stitched Nested Labels? They are the best. That’s what I used to create the label in the center of the card front. Stamp sentiment, cut with die. Then use the next larger die to cut a background piece. And isn’t the stitched detail around the edge the best?

Are you wondering about the panels on either side? I know you are thinking it’s some designer paper. No! I stamped it myself with some flowers and leaves from the Parcels & Petals stamp set. Now you can’t ever complain about have just the right designer paper – just make it yourself!

Sailing Home – A Catalog Favorite

The other day I realized that I’d made lots of cards with the new Sailing Home stamp set but had not posted any here. Hard to imagine since it is really one of my favorite stamp sets from the current catalog! Here’s a thank you card that we made the day I held my new catalog event.

Sailing Home stamp set, Smooth Sailing dies, Come Sail Away Designer Paper, thank you card, Stampin' Up!, Diannescards.com

I love Night of Navy with almost any other color, but I think it’s terrific with the Sahara Sand.

Design Notes for Sailing Home Card:

This card was pretty straightforward. I had lots of people at the event so I wanted it to be easy to assemble. I die cut the sail boats for everyone and then all they had to do was to drop it in the Stamparatus and stamp.

When I completed my card, I stamped off some Night of Navy ink for the lighthouse on the inside.

For a final touch, I added some Come Sail Away Designer Paper on the envelope flap.

Very Versailles – Can You Resist?

Did you get it? The resist part of the title refers to the fact that I used the emboss resist technique with the Very Versailles stamp set. I hadn’t done that it so long and it really seemed perfect for this stamp set.

Ver Versailles stamp set, Butterfly Gal stamp set, emboss resist, Woven threads Designer Series Paper, Butterfly duet Punch, Scalloped Lace Trim, Stampin' Up!, diannescards.com

Design Notes for Very Versailles Card:

Do you know how to do emboss resist technique? It’s easy, really!

  1. Emboss design on card stock using Versamark ink and either clear or white embossing powder.
  2. After you heat the powder, use a sponge and ink pad to add color over your embossed image.
  3. Use a paper towel or cloth to remove any extra ink so that the stamped image will pop a bit. This step is optional. Since I wanted a more subtle look, I did not do that on this card.

Here’s a link to a card I made in the spring using the emboss resist technique.

I also tried something I don’t think of too often. You might not even notice it but I stamped the butterflies on Designer Paper. I get stuck in the idea that you have to stamp on card stock. Not so!

To finish off this lovely card, I found a piece of the Woven Threads Designer Paper that was just the right size to add to the back flap of the envelope. Don’t you love this paper?

Floral Essence Fun

I wanted to make a birthday card for a friend and I seemed to naturally gravitate to the Floral Essence stamp set. So pretty!

Floral Essence stamp set, Parcels & Petals stamp set, Detailed Trio Punch birthday, Stampin' Up! diannescards.com

Design Notes for Floral Essence Card:

I think one of the first things I notice about a card are the colors. The colors I used for this card happened a little by chance. I knew I wanted to use the Rococo Rose and Pear Pizzazz. The piece of Pool Party card stock was sitting on my desk from an another project but seemed just right. Like this color combination?

I had some fun with the Detailed Trio Punch. First I rounded one of the corners, then added a little floral like touch with another punch. What a fun tool – really three punches in one!

The Floral Essence stamp set has some great sentiments but since I wanted a birthday sentiment, I used something from the Parcels & Petals stamp set.

It Starts With Art

One of my good friends and downline Janet, and I are going to a crop day on Saturday. Crop days are generally days when scrapbookers get together and work without interruptions for hours, all day and into the night. Doesn’t that sound like fun? I may bring some scrapbooking things but will probably work on things for an upcoming craft fair. I thought it would be fun to make a card for Janet using the It Starts With Art stamp set. It’s just so appropriate!

It Starts With Art stamp set, Follow Your Art Designer Paper, Arts & Crafts dies, Stampin' Up!, diannescards.com

I also made this card for this week’s Global Design Project sketch challenge. Click on the banner below to see all of the other great projects.

Design Notes for It Starts With Art Card:

I thought this was really a fun sketch. There are so many elements from the It Starts with Art Suite that I used. The background layer is from the great Follow Your Art Designer Series Paper. Have you seen it? What great designs.

It was hard to choose!

I also used a few of the dies from the Arts & Crafts Dies set – the pencils, the binder clip, the paper clip and the buttons border. Finally, I used a few of the stamps. Can you pick them out?

It Starts with Art stamp set images, Stampin' Up!, diannescards.com

I cut an extra row of buttons and decided to use them on the inside!
