Detailed Trio Punch Meets Beautiful Day

Sometimes I have things I love but don’t give enough credit. The Detailed Trio Punch is one of those things. It just adds so much to a card, tag or other project. Here’s a card I made yesterday that really shows off how lovely it is.

Detailed Trio Punch, Beautiful Day stamp set, heat embossing, Aqua Painters, Stampin' Up!,

And do you love the colors? I saw a color challenge on Splitcoaststampers and just loved it.

Design Notes for Detailed Trio Punch Birthday Card:

The flower from the Beautiful Day stamp set has to be one of my very favorite images. It’s just fun to color in, either with pencils, Stampin’ Blends, or as I did today, with ink and Aqua Painters. I like using the Black Heat Emboss Powder so the the colors stay in the areas. The heat embossing seems to act as a little corral to keep the water and ink inside. Makes this technique easy for a beginner!

The Happy birthday sentiment is from the Beautiful You stamp set. The stamp actually says, “Happy birthday, gorgeous”. For this card, I just wanted a simple, “Happy birthday.” So, I used a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to ink up the parts of the stamp that I wanted to use.

The Detailed Trio Punch has three different punch capabilities.  (I know, that’s a surprise.) For this card, I used two of the three, the corner rounding part and the lovely open work part. The punch also helps you create tags by punching a slot for ribbons or twine.

I washed the background with some Coastal Cabana ink and Aqua Painter. After mounting that piece on the Coastal Cabana card stock, I added a few Glitter Enamel Dots just to finish things off. I thought about adding some Wink of Stella but restrained myself. Maybe one source of glitter/glimmer is enough. What do you think?

I Think I’m Falling For Leaves

Falling for Leaves, that’s the name of a new stamp set. Isn’t that cute? And, yes, I am falling for it. True, I fall for just about anything that’s fallish. (Well, don’t get me started on Pumpkin Spice Latte, but that’s another story.) So I wanted to make a card for the Global Design Project sketch challenge and started with the Falling for Leaves Bundle. Here’s what I came up with.

Falling for Leaves stamp set, heat embossing, Frosted floral Specialty Designer SEries Paper, Detailed Leaves Thinlits Dies, #GDP154, Stampin' Up!,

Here’s the banner and a link to Global Design Project. Be sure to stop there and see all the great projects for this sketch.

Design Notes for Falling For Leaves Card:

Hard to know which I love more the Falling for Leaves stamp set or the Frosted Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper. Let’s call it a tie. I used both for this project.

When I saw the sketch, I had this idea that the area where the sentiment is was really a little flap and was a card on top of a card base. So that’s what I created. Here’s the inside of the card.

Here you can also see that I couldn’t decide if I wanted the Old Olive ribbon under the Galvanized Metallic Paper or below, so I did both!

By the way, the card stock on the bottom is the new Galvanized Metallic Paper. I just took a small piece and used one of the dies from the Detailed Leaves Thinlits Dies set to give it that nice, soft edge.

I think the card is kind of interesting. More like a post card with a card adhered to it. Good for those who don’t want to write a lot on the inside.

Tea Tins Time

The Holiday Catalog features adorable Tins that will be perfect for holiday gifts or cards (see page 13 ). It occurred to me the other day that I had just ordered some of the Tea Tins from the regular catalog and hadn’t used them yet. We went to a lovely party this weekend and I decorated one to use as a hostess gift.

Copper Tea Tins, Accented Blooms stamp set, Stampin' Blends, Stampin' Up!,

Design Notes for Tea Tins:

Heat embossing – one of my favorite things to do! I used some Copper Heat Emboss Powder and then used some Stampin’ Blends to color in the design. I also heat embossed the “Thank You” from the Accented Blooms stamp set. it was pretty easy to use my Paper Snips and cut out the flower piece. The “Thank You” was popped up on some Stampin’ Dimensionals. To finish off, I added some of the Copper Thread behind and around the design. Just enough.

I put some tea bags in the tin and then placed the tin in a cello bag. The Copper Trim finished off the packaging.

Party Time with a Touch of Gold

About a week ago, my good friends Joyce and Jack celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Isn’t that amazing? Naturally such a special occasion should be honored with a special card. Petal Palette stamp set had the perfect sentiment. Here’s what I came up with.

Petal Palette stamp set, anniversary, large Letter Framelits, Stampin' Up!,

Got a little gold?

Design Notes for Petal Palette 50th Anniversary Card:

Well, you really need to see the invitation to Joyce and Jack’s fabulous party then you can appreciate the card design.

So, perhaps the color scheme makes sense now. I layered some Old Olive card stock behind the Gold Foil and Basic Black panels. Then the monogram letters were cut with the Large Letter Framelits. The sentiment was heat embossed with gold. Really, pretty simple.

i also created some tags for Joyce to add to her table setting at the party.

I actually made about 130 of them!

The bags were filled with candies!

Treat Time for Manly Monday

Yes, it’s Monday again. Today, I have a masculine version of a collar card. I used the Treat Time stamp set for this card. I think it’s bright and happy!

Treat Time stamp set, Manly Monday card, Broadway Bound Designer Paper, heat embossing, Stampin' Up!,

The Broadway Bound Designer Paper has definitely become one of my favorites .

Design Notes for Treat Time Card:

I love how the collar fold lets you see both sides of a sheet of Designer Paper. If you follow my blog, you recall that I used the collar fold a few days ago. (Click here to see that post.) This time, I placed the fold on the side of the card, rather than the top. The opening allowed me some space to heat emboss the Happy Birthday sentiment. I added some Black Shimmer Ribbon and still felt it needed just a little more pop. Since there were gold circles on the designer paper, I punched out a few more from some Gold Foil Sheet with a 1/2″ Circle Punch. That did it for me.

While I had that great paper out, I used some to create a very cool envelope decoration. I think this will make anyone feel special.
