Seaside Shore for Swimming Teacher

A friend recently asked me to make a thank you card for her daughter’s summer swimming teacher. No brainer. I went right to Seaside Shore stamp set. All those little fish swimming around. What doesn’t work with that!

Do you see the envelope? I love adding a little clue about the card to the envelope.

Design Notes for Seaside Shore Thank You Card:

The Swirly Scribbles set of Thinlits has been a favorite since it first came out. I love the swirly flowers and have found lots of uses for the lines that blend together. Here I used them as waves. I had the Soft Sky waves on the paper and it looked a little blah. Then, I cut the swirly lines from some Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and paired the two together. I was purposely not super careful about lining them up. The effect is kind of cool, right?  The little bubbles stamp added a nice background,. I used White Heat Embossing Powder to add a little more texture. I later thought that I could have used White Craft ink. Next time. Here’s a close up so that you can see the Glimmer Paper.

My final, “I think it needs something else.” touch was to add some Glitter Enamel Dots. I love those things!

Oh, I forgot to mention that the sentiment is from the All Things Thanks stamp set. Both stamp sets come in both Wood Mount and Clear Mount. Always good to have choices, isn’t it?

Rose Wonder for a Special Birthday

My dear friend, Ann, lives in Maine. I don’t get to see her nearly often enough. So, when her birthday came around earlier in July, I wanted to make a special birthday card. I knew she would love something stamped with the Rose Wonder stamp set. It’s so beautiful. You really can’t miss when you use it with the Rose Garden Thinlits.

Rose Wonder stamp set, Rose Garden Thinlits dies, Wink of Stella, Aqua Painters, Watercolor Paper,

I was pretty happy with how it turned out.

Design Notes for Rose Wonder Birthday Card:

Since I knew I wanted to use my Aqua Painters, I stamped the rose and leaves with Basic Gray Archival ink. I like to use gray when I’m painting as it doesn’t seem to overwhelm the colors. Also, since I was going to be using Aqua Painters, I used Watercolor Paper. That way, I knew that I would not have problems with the paper pilling or getting warped. I used the ink refills to color in the flower and leaves. If you are just doing a small area with the Blender Pens or Aqua Painters, you can just squeeze some ink from the pad onto the lid. When it’s a larger area, it’s just easier to use a few drops of ink refill. After the ink was dry, I added a few layers of Wink of Stella. I think you can even see it in the picture. It’s usually hard to see in a photo. But, I used three or four layers of Wink

I did use the thinlits for the sentiment. I stamped the sentiment in Old Olive then trimmed around the edge of the stamped image. Next I cut a piece of Gold Foil paper with the die and adhered the Happy Birthday to it.
