Oh my gosh. Yesterday it was nearly 100° outside. I was glad to have such a fun project to work on. I’ve probably said this before, but… I LOVE this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit. The cards are just beautiful. The stamp set is terrific and the Ink Spot is one of my favorite colors, Blackberry Bliss. And did I mention the envelopes? Fabulous! Blissful Blooms is a winner. Here are some of the cards I made.
The kit contains enough materials to make 10 cards. The cards above are pretty much along the lines of what the directions suggested. I might have made a little change up here and there!
Here’s a video from Stampin’ Up to show you how easily the cards go together.
Design Notes for Alternate Blissful Blooms Cards:
I put aside two of the card bases and then cut them down to 4″ x 5 1/4″. After that it was pretty easy.
First I mounted both of the card fronts on a Blackberry Bliss Card Stock base. On the Thinking of you card, I stamped a bird from the Painted Glass stamp set. Next, I added some color to the bird by using a Blender Pen and some ink from the Blackberry Bliss Ink Spot.
On the other card. I added a butterfly from the same stamp set. The butterfly then got dressed up with some Wink of Stella, Because I had stamped the butterfly with regular ink, the color bled a little when I applied the Wink of Stella. That’s the effect I was looking for!
And one of my favorite parts of this kit are the beautiful envelopes. No work needed to dress these up!

My husband and I have been fortunate enough to have enjoyed many wonderful vacations. Some packed with touring and sightseeing, some with much needed relaxing. The theme this month for Kylie Bertucci’s Blog Highlights is vacation. It didn’t take much thought for me to think about the wonderful relaxing vacations Jerry and I enjoyed in Maine. We’d go to Southport Island, a little place near Boothbay Harbor. I recall spending a lot of time sitting on our deck or down by the water watching activity in the nearby inlet. So, I set out with Colorful Seasons to make a card to remind me of those great days.
Do you love this card? I feel relaxed just looking at it. Would you go to Kylie’s blog and vote for my card? If I am in the top ten (as I was last month), I get to be in a blog hop in early August. Thanks!
Design Notes for Colorful Seasons Card:
Can you believe it? I used three different stamp sets for this card. I began with Colorful Seasons and the “just breathe” sentiment. After some paper tearing and sponging, I added a few beachy things with a stamp from the Sea of Textures stamp set. Next, I used the Lilypad Lake stamp set for the distant sail boats.
And about the chairs… I love the Adirondack chairs from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits. The Wood Textures 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack seemed perfect. I thought it gave the chairs a rustic, Maine, look!
Finally, I added some Wink of Stella to the beach area to represent the sun shining on the sand. Is anything ever harmed by adding a little Wink of Stella?

The other day I realized that the Bird Banter stamp set was retiring. Well, I knew it was but I hadn’t really thought about it. I know I will find something just as cute to replace it but I need to use it one more time. There’s something I really appreciate about the just the tiniest bit sarcastic sentiments. For that matter, maybe the birds even look a little sarcastic. I have a friend who shares my sense of sarcasm and had a birthday recently. This card is for her. (The sarcasm shows up on the inside.)
Here’s a picture of all of the images and sentiments. Don’t you love it?
Bird Banter Stamp Set
Design Notes for Bird Banter Card:
Well, here is another sad, retiring item story. I love the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper. I’ve saved all the scraps from various projects. When I realized I had a few 1″ wide strips I wondered if I could weave them together. Well, it’s probably not my best weaving job but I thought it turned out okay! I seemed to be in a gold mood. To pick up the gold highlights in the Designer Paper, I used Gold Heat Embossing Powder to stamp the bird, backed the peace with Gold Foil and added some Gold Ribbon! Did I over gold? I think not!

After I created this card, I was curious about what color dragonflies really are. I had a recollection of blues, greens, something iridescent. Turns out I was fairly close. I used the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set with Pacific Point and Pool Party inks. What do you think?
The inspiration for this card came from this Week’s Try Stampin’ on Tuesday challenge. Be sure to hop on over to the site. Better yet, create something for the challenge! There are lots of ways to create.
Design Notes for Dragonfly Dreams Card:
The challenge was to pick three ideas from the Tic-Tac Tuesday board. I selected “Emboss, Blue, Outdoors.” For the emboss portion, I used one of the Petal Pair Embossing Folders on some Pool Party cardstock. Then I sponged the image with some Pacific Point ink. I used the same blues on the dragonfly. The other section of the card layer is Smoky Slate that I stamped with some Smoky Slate ink with a stamp from the Timeless Textures stamp set. Finally, I used some Wink of Stella on the wings of the dragonfly.

I think that the first thing I notice is color. Maybe card colors, clothing, furniture or decor items. So, when I saw that this week’s challenge from Global Design Project was a color challenge, I knew that I would participate. The choice of Coffee Cafe stamp set was totally random!
Isn’t this a great color combination? Here’s the challenge logo. Just click on the image below to go to the site.
Design Notes for Coffee Cafe Card:
One of the first things I did was to look in the Annual Catalog to see what colors were in the Coffee Break Designer Series Paper. Once I saw that Soft Suede was one of the colors, it was an easy decision to use that paper on my card. I stamped the cup, lid and wrapper with Soft Suede ink and cut them out with the Coffee Cups Framelits..And isn’t the shimmery ribbon a fun touch? Finally, I added a little Wink of Stella on the words to make them stand out a bit.
