Double Lost Lagoon!

For my monthly classes I always have a door prize. Sometimes it’s some product, other times I make something. This month, it’s both! I made a little box from Lost Lagoon card stock. It’s  based on one I saw that Ronda Wade had made. I filled the box with a spool of Lost Lagoon Satin Ribbon. Double Lost Lagoon!
Box made with Lost lagoon card stock. (more…)

Easter Greetings

Wow! Can it really be time to create Easter cards? It must be since my classes are all making this card, using the Blessed Easter stamp from the Occasions catalog.

Easter card

I have been wanting to make a shaped card for some time. I recently saw a little trick of adding an extra layer to make the card, in this case, appear totally oval.

Here’s how to cut the card base:

  1. Fold 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ paper at 4 1/4″
  2. Use the Magnetic Platform and largest oval Framelits die to cut the base. (I used green here so it would be seen more easily.) Be sure to leave some space INSIDE the Framelit.

3. Here’s how it looks after using the Framelit.

DSCN0987     4. Then cut another piece of card stock using the same size Framelit as you did for the card base but cut the entire shape.

5. Carefully match up the full sized piece with  the card base and then adhere the full piece to the front of the folded card base.

Easy peasey, right?! (especially if you have the Magnetic Platform… oh, you don’t have one!!!!!???? You NEED one. )

Christening card for Baby Lia

On Sunday, we were blessed to attend Baby Lia’s Christening. What a special day.  Of course, the occasion required a special card. I didn’t have the stamp set I wanted. But……. My Digital Studio (MDS) to the rescue!

Lia Christening

I stamped the cross and the sentiment from the MDS set, Crosses of Hope. It’s easy to color them in what ever colors you want! I added a little Crisp Cantaloupe to the cross and to the sentiment. The rest was Soft Suede. I printed them, cut them out then put them on the card. I used Flowering Flourishes as the background on the Pistachio Pudding piece. This is actually a hybrid card since some is traditional stamping and some is MDS. Whatever you call it, I think it turned out pretty well.

Oh, did you notice the cool envelope? I love my new Envelope Punch Board! It is so much fun and SO easy to create custom envelopes. I thought the Venetian Romance Designer Series Paper went nicely with the colors of the card.

Welcome Baby, Cards and Coffee

Our first session of “Cards and Coffee” will be coming up soon, Monday, September 16 at 9 AM. Here’s the first card we will be making.

new babyI think this card would be great to send to a new Mom and Dad or new grandparents. Notice that you could send it for a new baby boy or baby girl.

I was playing around with the embossing folder and brayer again! I used the brayer and So Saffron ink on the raised side of this (retired) folder to get this effect. I have featured this technique on other posts (look here.) I think the little pennants and banner are a cute way to welcome a cute new little one. And aren’t they all so cute?!

Remember,  if you live in lower Delaware, you can just come to Coffee and Cards on Sept. 16 and make 3 of these for $6.00. And, you can have coffee, (or tea) and muffins in the bargain! Call or email me to save your place.

If you are not so close, here are all the things you will need to recreate this card. Be sure to email me ([email protected]) if you want the dimensions for the papers.

Remember, just go to my 24-7 on-line store to order any of the materials you might need for these cards.
