I rarely think to make a card that is not a standard size. Who knows what made me think to make a card that’s not standard and just a little bit of a tall card for today. Maybe because I got to use the Envelope Punch Board. I also had fun with the Stamparatus. Well, there are so many things to love on this card. Hard to say. But, here’s the card.
Before I Continue….
I got a bit of news on Sunday about the 24 Hour sale. Looks like some great stamp sets will be on sale. Yea! Check out the video.
Here’s the list of stamp sets.
Design Notes for Tall Card:
When you want to have stamps placed “just so” the Stamparatus is the tool you need. I knew I wanted the “Happy Birthday” to be repeated on the card front – but not randomly! Because you can change where you put the stamp by moving the hinged acrylic plates, I knew I had to use the Stamparatus.
But, I didn’t move the acrylic plates! After each stamping, I moved the card stock down 1/2″ and over 1/2″.
Do you notice the partially stamped Happy Birthday? We have Small Grid Sheets that fit perfectly on the Stamparatus now. (I was originally going to have the sentiment repeat in a different way.)
I wanted to add some texture to the card front. The Galvanized Metallic Paper was meant for the Tin Tile Dynamic Embossing Folder!
And do you love this color combination? I think they compliment each other and both look great with the Galvanized Metallic Paper.
Because it was a different shape, I needed a custom made envelope. No problem with the Envelope Punch Board.
Supply List for Tall Card:
Both of the stamp sets that I used for this card come in both clear mount and wood mount. The Rooted in Nature set is also part of a Bundle. Always get the Bundle!
Come back tomorrow and see what’s on sale. There is sure to be something you can’t live without.
I had so much fun with the Maps Etc. Dynamic Embossing Folder. It’s part of the Best Route Suite from the Annual Catalog. I actually made two different cards to show you today.
Look carefully at both cards. Do you notice something? Something missing? There is no stamping! Talk about quick cards!
Design Notes for Maps Etc. Cards:
Well, I used the Maps Etc. Dynamic Embossing Folder on both cards. One card shows the embossed (raised) side, one shows the debossed (depressed) side. I think that you can clearly see the difference between the two. The card on the right is the embossed side, the one you would typically use. The card on the left shows the debossed side, a side you likely overlook. You might also notice that I have some color on the Granite Gray embossed pieces. That’s because I used a Sponge Brayer and some Blueberry Bushel ink on the inside of the folder.
This technique is pretty easy and adds quite a punch.
- First, decide which side you want to use.
- Next, ink up Sponge Brayer and add ink to one side of embossing folder.
- Finally, carefully insert your paper and run through the Big Shot.
When you are adhering embossed card stock to another layer, be sure to use a strong adhesive like Tear & Tape. Because the embossed surface is uneven, you need the extra strength.
The sentiments on the cards are both from the Best Route Memories and More Card Pack. I punched out the sentiment with 2″ Circle punch then punched out a background piece with the Starburst Punch. Both cards were finished off with some Best Route Washi Tape and Best Route Enamel Shapes. I also used some of the Washi on the envelopes.

When I was a kid, we had a great dog, Josephine. When I went off to school, especially after a long, lazy summer, she seemed genuinely sad. I thought of that when I was making this card and pulled out the Bella and Friends stamp set.
I guess the “Oh happy day” is just a tad sarcastic.
Over at Global Design Project, the theme this week is School Days. I’m thinking this card goes along with that challenge. Just click on the banner to go to the website.
Design Notes for School Days with Bella and Friends Card:
I just sort of pieced pieces of paper together till I got a look I liked for the school house. i did emboss the Cherry Cobbler paper with the Subtle Dynamic Embossing Folder. Do you know how I made the school bell? It’s the flower from the Vases Builder Punch, turned upside down.
I stamped Bella with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then used Watercolor Pencils to color her in. I used a Blender Pen to smooth out the color before I snipped her out with my Paper Snips.

Is there any better reason to create a congratulations card than a new baby? I think not. I love making baby cards and to be honest, love making not traditional looking ones. Here’s my latest new baby card.
I’ve entered this card into Kylie Bertucci’s Blog Highlights for this month. Can you vote for my card? There’s information about how to do that at the end of this post.
Design Notes for Daisy Delight Baby Card:
One of the fun things about this card is that I got to use my Stamparatus. I made the wreath by using a template and the Stamparatus. You can learn more about it by checking out my video tutorial on YouTube. Click here to go to the video.
The other different thing is the ribbon. As I was making the card, I used the Dotted Ribbon. Something just didn’t look right. Then I realized I needed color! Sponge and some ink and VOILA!. Petal Pink ribbon. How easy is that!
Twisting My Words
Finally, I wanted to tell you about the sentiment from the Baby Bear stamp set. I stamped it with Night or Navy ink on Whisper White paper. Hummmm, how to cut it out? None of the punches or Framelits I have did what I wanted. I studied the stamp itself for a minute. It’s photopolymer. It bends. I bent it just a bit, inked it up and stamped. Then it fit perfected into one of the banners on the Duet Banner Punch.

Hello! It’s Monday! I have another masculine card for you. This one will make anyone feel better. The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set.
Not sure why, but somehow, alligators make me smile. At least these do. (Or are they crocodiles?)
Design Notes for Itty Bitty Greetings Get Well:
Well, the terrific Animal Expeditions Designer Series Paper certainly takes center stage on this card. I just added a few layers behind in Basic Gray and Poppy Parade. Then, I echoed those colors in the tag on the front. It all needed some texture, so I did a bit of embossing with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder on the Basic Gray piece.
Finally, I stamped and punched. One more bit of texture was called for so I added the Basic Black Baker’s Twine.
