Bella and Friends Say Get Well

Hello! Welcome to my blog! Maybe you are a regular reader or perhaps you are stopping here while hopping along Kylie Bertucci’s International Blog Hop. Either way, I hope you like the card I’m showing today. A friend recently had to undergo a procedure and I wanted him to know I was thinking of him and hoping he’d be better soon. What better way than to have a hello from Bella and Friends!

The theme for this month’s hop is encouragement. I know you’ll want to continue along the hop and see all of the great projects with this theme.

Design Notes for Bella and Friends Cards:

I truly believe that you can’t make a bad card with the Bella and Friends stamp set. If you read my blog regularly, you know that I use that stamp set quite a bit! This one was pretty simple. I stamped Bella with some Memento Black ink and colored in the image with some Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends. A little red heart added just the right pop of color. For the background, I used the Seaside Embossing Folder. It had probably been a day or two since I’d done any heat embossing and I needed my heat embossing fix. So, the “Hello” sentiment was heat embossed and then punched out with the Darling Label Punch. The “Hello” is from the Darling Label Punch Box stamp set.

Gingham Gala – A Sweet Suite!

Have you seen the suite of products in the new Occasions catalog called Gingham Gala? You will love it! I’ve been having fun with the papers, stamps and punch. Here’s a card I made for a swap a week or so ago.

Gingham Gala Suite, Butterfly Gala stamp set, Butterfly duet Punch, Stamin' Up!, diannescards.com

Design Notes for Gingham Gala Card:

I had not made a gate fold card in awhile. So, why not. I think it’s a good way to show off this particular designer paper. Just about three years ago, I created a video on how to make this kind of card. Check out the video here.

Apparently, I’ve gotten better at making videos as now I don’t seem to have them at such an odd angle!

The front of this card is really the best part however, I used the squares from the Stitched Shapes Framelits to create the background for the butterfly. After I stamped, painted with Blends and punched it out, I added it to the front and then stamped on the antennae. Oh, make sure you stamp the body before you punch it out! I finished it off with a bit of Wink of Stella.

When you use the Butterfly Duet Punch, you get two butterflies. Bonus!  Since I just used one on the front of the card, I saved the second one for the inside.

Congrats and Keep Crafting Forever

It’s always fun to make a Congratulations card. I have a downline who is close to promoting. I want to be ready with congratulations!  The Crafting Forever stamp set was a natural choice for this card.

Design Notes for Crafting Forever Card:

Well, I had fun with some of my favorite products when I made this card. First, I heat embossed the sentiment and the pot of brushes – always a fun time for me. Then I used Stampin’ Blends to color in the brushes. But, my newest fun item also showed up. I used some of the Shimmer Paint on the card stock. You may know that many of the sheets of paper in the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper pack have a pearl finish. I love that. However, I realized that the two papers I chose for this card did not have the pearl finish. Shimmer Paint to the rescue. Shake, dauber – pearl finish! Now I have Pearly paper whenever I want with the swish of a dauber.

I also added some of the Designer Paper to the inside and to the envelope.

Tea Tins Time

The Holiday Catalog features adorable Tins that will be perfect for holiday gifts or cards (see page 13 ). It occurred to me the other day that I had just ordered some of the Tea Tins from the regular catalog and hadn’t used them yet. We went to a lovely party this weekend and I decorated one to use as a hostess gift.

Design Notes for Tea Tins:

Heat embossing – one of my favorite things to do! I used some Copper Heat Emboss Powder and then used some Stampin’ Blends to color in the design. I also heat embossed the “Thank You” from the Accented Blooms stamp set. it was pretty easy to use my Paper Snips and cut out the flower piece. The “Thank You” was popped up on some Stampin’ Dimensionals. To finish off, I added some of the Copper Thread behind and around the design. Just enough.

I put some tea bags in the tin and then placed the tin in a cello bag. The Copper Trim finished off the packaging.

Painted Glass for Sympathy

I try to have some sympathy cards at the ready. Unfortunately, I needed one this week and though I had some, I wanted something special. I went to the Painted Glass stamp set for the sentiment and the butterfly.

I think it’s a little bit of a different color combination for a sympathy card, but I hope my friend will like it.

Design Notes for Painted Glass Sympathy Card:

I think butterflies are a perfect symbol for a sympathy card. Originally I thought I would put the butterflies all down the side and stamped four on the piece of paper. Naturally, to stamp in a nice column like that, I used my Stamparatus, I placed the stamp, inked it up, stamped, then moved the plate down to the next hinge. This is called – you guessed it – hinge stamping! After I stamped all the butterflies, I colored them in with Stampin’ Blends.

After I embossed the piece of Mint Macaron with one of the Petal Pear Embossing Folder, I sponged over the flowers a bit with some Mint Macaron ink. That always makes the embossed design pop.

Finally, after I stamped the sentiment, I cut it out with one of the Stitched Labels Framelits. I also backed the piece with a piece of Mint Macaron so that the openings would all show the same thing.
