Parcels & Petal are Pretty Pretty!

Parcels & Petals. Are you looking for the parcels? There is a set of dies that coordinate with this stamp set. You can create a little box with the dies. Today, I’m just using the stamp set for a fun, gate fold card. (Soon, I’ll show you the dies and the wonderful things you can create with them.)

Design Notes for Parcels & Petals:

Gate fold cards are just the kind of card I like to make. They are easy to do and yet look somehow more special.

Do you have the new Stitched Nested Labels? They are the best. That’s what I used to create the label in the center of the card front. Stamp sentiment, cut with die. Then use the next larger die to cut a background piece. And isn’t the stitched detail around the edge the best?

Are you wondering about the panels on either side? I know you are thinking it’s some designer paper. No! I stamped it myself with some flowers and leaves from the Parcels & Petals stamp set. Now you can’t ever complain about have just the right designer paper – just make it yourself!

Woven Heirlooms for Sympathy

The theme for Kylie Bertucci’s Blog Highlights is encouragement. When does someone need encouragement more that at the time of the passing of a loved one? I think the new Woven Heirlooms stamp set is absolutely perfect for this type of card.

Woven Heirlooms stamp set, Butterfly Gala stamp set, heat embossing, Stitched Labels Framelits, Woven Threads Designer Series Paper, Scalloped Linene Ribbon, Stampin' Up!, diannescards.com

I’ve entered this card in Kylie Bertucci’s Blog Highlights this month. Would you go over to her blog and vote for my card, #5? Just click on the heart in the upper right hand corner to vote. Thanks!

Design Notes for Woven Heirlooms Card:

You know how much I love heat embossing. I thought the white embossing was in keeping with the colors in the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper. And don’t you love that piece cut with the Stitched Labels Framelits?

I cut out two of them so that I could use one on the inside of the card.

I like using butterflies on any card but especially a sympathy card. They seem so hopeful. For this, I stamped the butterflies (from Butterfly Gala stamp set) on vellum. Next, I punched out both butterflies from card stock and then mounted the vellum ones on the cardstock.

It’s Not Just Scrapbooking Any More!

I love to scrapbook. It’s such a great way to recall happy memories and wonderful people. But, I admit, I spend most of my time card making. With the Come Sail Away Memories and More Card Pack, I can do either. The cards are a great way to enhance my scrapbooking or a quick way to create cards. Here’s a card I made for Father’s Day with one of the cards from that pack.

Come Sail Away Memories & More Card Pack, Father's Day, Stampin' Up!, diannescards.com

Design Notes for Come Sail Away Memories & More Card Pack:

I never know what to call this card fold. Sort of a gate fold with only half a gate? Anyway, I stamped a bit on the gate with one of the stamps from the Sailing Home stamp set. The center piece, “Happy Father’s Day”, is from the Card Pack. I  simply added a mat with some Mossy Meadow card stock then adhered it to the front flap. Next, I added some of the fun Baker’s Twine that is part of the Come Sail Away Suite. The final touch was to add one of the Sail Away Trinkets with a piece of Linen Thread.

The Card Pack is such a great resource to have around. The pack contains 50 – two sided cards and four sticker sheets. There are also 6 laser cut cards.

It’s on my To Do list to create a scrapbook page or two to show off these great cards. Look for it next week!

Gingham Gala – A Sweet Suite!

Have you seen the suite of products in the new Occasions catalog called Gingham Gala? You will love it! I’ve been having fun with the papers, stamps and punch. Here’s a card I made for a swap a week or so ago.

Gingham Gala Suite, Butterfly Gala stamp set, Butterfly duet Punch, Stamin' Up!, diannescards.com

Design Notes for Gingham Gala Card:

I had not made a gate fold card in awhile. So, why not. I think it’s a good way to show off this particular designer paper. Just about three years ago, I created a video on how to make this kind of card. Check out the video here.

Apparently, I’ve gotten better at making videos as now I don’t seem to have them at such an odd angle!

The front of this card is really the best part however, I used the squares from the Stitched Shapes Framelits to create the background for the butterfly. After I stamped, painted with Blends and punched it out, I added it to the front and then stamped on the antennae. Oh, make sure you stamp the body before you punch it out! I finished it off with a bit of Wink of Stella.

When you use the Butterfly Duet Punch, you get two butterflies. Bonus!  Since I just used one on the front of the card, I saved the second one for the inside.

Baby Bear in Shades of Gray

So, I guess I’ve used the Baby Bear stamp set quite a few times. How could I not? It is just too cute. My neighbors welcomed a new granddaughter last week so I wanted to make something special.

Design Notes for Baby Bear Card:

In the past, when I’ve used Baby Bear, I’ve made the bear in shades of brown. This time I wanted to use grays so that it would coordinate with the Twinkle, Twinkle Designer Paper. The Stamparatus made it so easy to do the three layers.

I don’t always make a belly band for a gate fold card but thought it would be a cute way to display the bear. Here’s what the inside looks like.

Baby Bear stamp set, new baby card, Twinkle, Twinkle Designer Paper, Oh, My Stars Embossing Folder, Gate Fold card with Belly Band, Stampin' Up!, diannescards.com

The sentiment and stars are from the Better Together stamp set.
