Gingham Gala – A Sweet Suite!

Have you seen the suite of products in the new Occasions catalog called Gingham Gala? You will love it! I’ve been having fun with the papers, stamps and punch. Here’s a card I made for a swap a week or so ago.

Gingham Gala Suite, Butterfly Gala stamp set, Butterfly duet Punch, Stamin' Up!,

Design Notes for Gingham Gala Card:

I had not made a gate fold card in awhile. So, why not. I think it’s a good way to show off this particular designer paper. Just about three years ago, I created a video on how to make this kind of card. Check out the video here.

Apparently, I’ve gotten better at making videos as now I don’t seem to have them at such an odd angle!

The front of this card is really the best part however, I used the squares from the Stitched Shapes Framelits to create the background for the butterfly. After I stamped, painted with Blends and punched it out, I added it to the front and then stamped on the antennae. Oh, make sure you stamp the body before you punch it out! I finished it off with a bit of Wink of Stella.

When you use the Butterfly Duet Punch, you get two butterflies. Bonus!  Since I just used one on the front of the card, I saved the second one for the inside.

Baby Bear in Shades of Gray

So, I guess I’ve used the Baby Bear stamp set quite a few times. How could I not? It is just too cute. My neighbors welcomed a new granddaughter last week so I wanted to make something special.

Design Notes for Baby Bear Card:

In the past, when I’ve used Baby Bear, I’ve made the bear in shades of brown. This time I wanted to use grays so that it would coordinate with the Twinkle, Twinkle Designer Paper. The Stamparatus made it so easy to do the three layers.

I don’t always make a belly band for a gate fold card but thought it would be a cute way to display the bear. Here’s what the inside looks like.

The sentiment and stars are from the Better Together stamp set.

Manly Monday with Rooted In Nature

In our constant search for great cards for men, I think I’ve hit on a winner. I love this gate fold card made with the Rooted in Nature stamp set. I hope you agree. It’s only made better by using the Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper.

Rooted in Nature, Masculine, Nature's Poem DSP, Stampin Up!,

This card could be for any occasion, birthday, hello, Get Well, whatever.

Design Notes for Rooted in Nature Card:

Does it look like two different pieces of designer paper? That was what I was going for. The piece on the right is, in fact, some of the Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper. The piece on the right is Soft Suede card stock stamped with Soft Suede ink and one of the stamps from Rooted in Nature stamp set,

Rooted in Nature, Masculine, Nature's Poem DSP, Stampin Up!,

I made the belly band a bit wider than I would ordinarily. The tree stamp is tall, so I made the belly band a little bigger to accommodate it. I added a thread I cut from a piece of Burlap Ribbon to the belly band to give the card front some depth and texture. Just the right touch, don’t you think?

The tree stamp is pretty amazing. I inked up the stamp with Tranquil Tide then used an Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker to add some color to the tree trunk.

Daisy Delight Departing!

Oh, one of my favorite Designer Series Papers, Daisy Delight, is retiring. I know there will be other wonderful papers to replace it in my heart but right now, it’s sad. So when I needed to make a few thank you cards. I decided I could use the last of the Daisy Delight for the task.

Daisy delight Designer Series Paper, All things Thanks stamp set, thank you card, cutting red rubber stamps, stampin' Up!,

Isn’t that a cheerful thanks?

Design Notes for Daisy Delight Card:

this gate fold card is an easy fun way to create a card that is just a little different. Cut the card stock at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ , add a little mark along the 8 1/2″ side at 4 1/4″. Fold each side over to this mark.

I couldn’t find that exact sentiment I wanted so I created it. I liked the”thanks” from one of the stamps in the All Things Thanks stamp set. I cut it. When you want to modify a stamp, be sure to cut from the image side, not the label. Here’s why, the label and stamp were not perfectly lined up, thought very close as you can see here.

Window Shopping for Blog Hog!

Today is the blog hop. Remember that a few weeks ago I asked you to vote for my card? We’ll I landed in the top ten so today I am able to participate in Kylie Bertucci’s International Blog Hop! The theme of the hop is love. I am so fortunate to have some wonderful friends that I love dearly. In a few days, I’ll get to see some of them in Hartford at the Stampin’ Up! event and then I’m visiting in Massachusetts to see more friends. I thought the sentiment from Window Shopping was perfect to show my love and appreciation.

You really have to go and see all of the other great cards. I know you will be inspired!

Kylie Bertucci Internatinal Blog Hop,

Design Notes for Window Shopping Card:

I think gate fold is one of the easiest and cutest fun fold. I just add a tiny mark at the top of the page at the 4 1/4″ mark then fold in each side to meet at that mark. Easy, right? And did you notice that I used some more of the beautiful Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper? I’ve been working on overcoming my hording ways. Both papers are from that package. i like how the piece behind the sentiment introduces the Lemon-Lime Twist color. A good excuse for me to add some Lemon Lime Twist Ombre Ribbon.
