Being Inspired with Sweet Soiree

Yes, it’s true, I’m using the very beautiful Sweet Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper again. Yep, I’m pretty proud of myself. No more hoarding! This time, I paired it with a sentiment from the You’re Inspiring stamp set. Two “can’t miss’  items from the Occasions catalog.

Design Notes for Sweet Soiree Card:

One of the things that I love about this paper is that each side is a winner. Often when there are metallic elements on a sheet of paper, the other side is white. Not in this package. Each side is a winner. The bottom half of the card has a beautiful floral pattern on the other side. I cut the cake out from another sheet. That’s easy to do with my Paper Snips. There really isn’t anything too complicated about this card. I let the cake and dotted paper take center stage.

Amazing You, Doughnuts, and Freshly Made Sketches

Well, last week I used the Celebrate You Thinlits and promised more using those and the Amazing You stamp set. I did that. Tomorrow is Faschtnaut Day, also called Shrove Tuesday, also know as the day before Ash Wednesday. Growing up, Faschtnaut Day always meant we got doughtnuts!  So, as I was putting together a card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge, I thought of the great paper from the Picture Perfect Party Designer Pack that has doughnuts pictured on it. Thus the title: Amazing You, Doughnuts, and Freshly Made Sketches. Here’s the card.

Design Notes for Amazing You Card:

Bermuda Bay card stock formed the background for the four panels of Picture Perfect Party Paper. I simply wrapped some Linen Thread around the card stock. A little stamping, and the cut out “YOU” were all I needed to finish the card. I can actually use this card for birthday, or many other occasions. I’ll stamp the inside when I need the card.

Flourishing Phrases for Sympathy

Oh, it was that time again. I needed a sympathy card. As much as I love making cards, it’s always hard to make sympathy cards. Of course, I pulled out one of my favorite stamp sets, Flourishing Phrases. It seems there is always a sentiment here that I can use, both for the outside and inside of the card.

Flourishing Phrases, sympathy, Stampin' Up!,

It’s a pretty clean and simple card. I was inspired by this week’s challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches. Here’s the link and logo should you want to go over to see what other great cards are there.

Design Notes for Flourishing Phrases Sympathy Card:

I think figuring out the measurements for the layers on this card was the hardest part. I stamped the flower and the leaves so that there would still be a bit of white space near the top. I just felt it gave better balance. I experimented with adding another piece of Whisper White card stock at the bottom with the sentiment on it. But, it just looked too crowded. I’m always happy to do heat embossing so I am glad I thought of that! Here’s a look at the stamp set images.

Lots of Lavender for FMS

Sale-A-Bration. My favorite time of the year. One of the stamp sets in the Sale-A-Bration brochure is called Lots of Lavender. It’s just beautiful. I’ve been so anxious to try it out and when I saw the sketch for Freshly Made Sketches, I knew i had a match.

Design Notes for Lots of Lavender Card:

Don’t you love the color combination? The lavender/Wisteria Wonder was obvious and the other colors just followed.

I love this particular set of stamps. It’s a set of stamp meant to be layered. I first stamped with Basic Gray ink for the outline of the flowers, stems and bow. Next, I stamped the leaves and stems and finally the bow. It was so easy with the new Stamparatus! If you haven’t already reserved yours, you will be able to order in March. It’s so much fun!
I’m not sure if cutting the image in four is a technique that has a name but it just seemed right to me. When I went to put the card all together, I had not done any stamping on the Pool Party piece and it seemed a little flat. I used one of the Pattern Party Decorative Masks, a Sponge Dauber and some Pool party ink. I think it gave it just the right amount of texture. A few pearls were a nice last touch.

Lots of Love Meets Painted Autumn Designer Paper

We sometimes had WI-FI while we were in Scotland.  I realize now why my husband was so happy to make all of our hotel reservations. He selected wonderful places.  All of the hotels offered free WI-FI, some better than others! One day I saw this sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. I knew right away I wanted to use the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper and the Lots of Love stamp set. Lots of Love sounds like it is a stamp set for Valentine cards. You certainly can use it for that but there are lots of other uses for this stamp set as well. I chose to use it for a Thinking of You card. Don’t you like having some of those cards your stash?

To be honest, I just followed the sketch. The Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper gave me some hints about the colors – primarily Cajun Craze and Pear Pizzazz. Lemon Lime Twist and Garden Green are the greens in the paper. I went rogue and used Pear Pizzazz. I’m just wild like that sometimes. After I chose the colors, then I stamped the sentiment. I used markers to get the two colors on that stamp. I used the stamping off technique for the leaves.
