Tomorrow new items are going to be added to the Sale-A-Bration offerings. Isn’t that exciting news? As a demonstrator, I get to pre-order goodies like these. I’ve used one of the new stamp sets, Blossoming Basket, to create a birthday card for a special customer of mine. The basket of flowers was just calling out for Stampin’ Blends coloring.
Did you notice that I used some of the beautiful Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper as one of the layers? Not just for Valentines anymore!
Design Notes for Blossoming Basket Birthday Card:
This card was so much fun to make. I love heat embossing and I love using Stampin’ Blends. I first embossed the basket using Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Next I used some of the Blends to color the basket, flowers and leaves. I was happy with the basket but it looked a little lonely. So, I heat embossed a butterfly from the same set, added some color and did some fussy cutting. Finally, I added just a piece of ribbon across the bottom to ground the basket. Some layers of Calypso Coral and the Designer Series paper and it was done.
The inside was pretty easy as well. I used a stamp from Balloon Celebrations stamp set and some butterflies from the Blossoming Basket stamp sets. Butterflies also made an appearance on the envelope.
Tip for Today
It’s always nice to add some stamped element to the card envelope. A preview of wonderful things to come!

Since the new Occasions catalog came out, I’ve had a few moments to play with a new material offered, Brusho Crystal Colour. You can see some samples I’ve posted here and here. Stampin’ Up! has created a great video about using Brusho and I thought I’d share that with you today.
I love the idea of putting some Brusho on a Clear Block and using the Aqua Painter to pick up some color. My next project is already brewing….
If you look at the posts showing the cards I’ve created, you’ll see that I’ve used a Stampin‘ Spritzer to add the water. I also used a Heat Tool to dry the paper, rather than wait!

Amazing You is one of the great new stamp sets from the Sale-A-Bration brochure. Just purchase $50 and it can be yours. Today I have featured this great stamp set in a birthday card for a friend.
There’s more about Amazing You that I’ll be sharing soon. Well, I’ll give you a hint… there is a coordinating set of Thinlits that you can also get for FREE! Some samples next week. You are going to love it!
Are you wondering about the “masking” part referred to in the blog post title? That’s how I got the great gold accent behind the flower.
I’ve been playing a lot with masking the last week or two and decided to create a video tutorial for you. I show you two types of masking. You will see they are easy and easier!
Design Notes for Amazing You Card:
First, I inked up the flower stamp with Calypso Coral and then I used a Stampin’ Write Marker to ink up the leaves. I created a mask of the flower and leaves then used that to cover the Calypso Coral and Wild Wasabi image. Next, I used VersaMark and Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder with the sunburst stamp. I thought the “celebrate” repeated along side in Calypso Coral ink was a good way to finish it off. Finally, I added some Gold Metallic Thread behind the focal image. You can never go wrong adding some gold.
Supply List for Amazing You Card:
Don’t forget, you can get this stamp set for free. Just order $50 in products from the Occasions catalog or the Annual Catalog. For each $50 you purchase you will qualify for a Free item.
Thanks for stopping by today.
Today is the last day of March. Sadly, it is also the very last day of Sale-A-Bration. I was fortunate to have many people order this month to take advantage of the great FREE items from Sale-A-Bration. I thought I’d give the Sale-A-Bration So Very Much stamp set a workout and make my March thank you cards using this. By the way, you can still order today and earn Sale-A-Bration items!
This is really a pretty simple card, but one I like a lot. To be honest, I’d been saving the scraps from one of the special sheets from the Affectionately Yours Designer Series paper for a while. Most of the cards are like this one but some have a slightly different shaped paper behind the Thank you. I thought they all looked pretty nice however.
The little flower was from a different sheet a paper from the same packet. It’s also a special sheet, with some bits of copper through it. I punched it out with the Petite Petals Punch.
