Petal Palette Thank You – Two Versions

A friend recently asked if I would make her some thank you note cards. I was happy to help. I knew the Petal Palette stamps would be something she would like. So I set to work. Here is a sampling of what I made.

Do you have a favorite?

My color palette inspiration came from this week’s challenge over at T.G.I.F. Challenges. I always love a color challenge. Here’s the banner and link for that. #tgif171

Design Notes for Petal Palette Thank You Cards:

Have you ever used our Note Cards and Envelopes? They are great. Just the right size (5″ x 3 1/2″) for a short note. You can get them in either Whisper White, as I used today, or Very Vanilla. It was just the right size also for me to place the flower group and a sentiment from the Petal Palette stamp set. I first stamped the flowers in Basic Gray then used an Aqua Painter and inks to color in the flowers and leaves. You could use Stampin’ Blends, or Watercolor Pencils for these flowers. The little flower on the sentiment was stamped off, that is, I stamped it first on a piece of scrap paper and then onto the card stock. The Petals & More Thinlits made it so easy to cut out the flowers and the little banner for the Thank You.

I decided I needed a bit of texture in the background and so embossed the Poppy Parade piece with the Seaside Embossing Folder and the So Saffron piece with the Basket Weave Embossing Folder.

Finally, I added some Share What You Love Artisan Pearls to the centers of the flowers.

Manly Monday – Sea of Textures Birthday

I’m on a roll. I think this is three weeks in a row that I have presented a masculine card on Monday. Yea me! This week I’m using the Sea of Textures stamp set for a decidedly sea worthy card. I’m also using my favorite technique, heat embossing.

Turns out that heat embossing was the technique challenge over at TGIF Challenges this week. Click on the image below to go over to their site and see lots of other great cards using heat embossing.

Design Notes for Sea of Textures Card:

Hard to know what I like most about this card. The color combination is really a favorite. I think that the Calypso Coral mat and Night of Navy card base pulled the colors together well.

But then, there is heat embossing – my favorite technique! This time I took heat embossing a step further and did emboss resist. Do you know that technique? I embossed the texture in the background, I guess it’s fishing nets, with Clear Heat Emboss Powder then sponged over it with some Balmy Blue ink to bring out the embossing. Easy and impressive, what more could you ask?

The “Happy Birthday”  sentiment is from the Better Together stamp set, one of my ‘Can’t live without” sets. You NEED it!
