Well Said for Retirement Congratulations

Recently,  one of our neighbors retired as a school nurse after a long and successful career. We joined her friends and family for a party a week or so ago. I wanted to make a special card for her. Now that she is retired, I think card making is in her future! I used both the Beautiful You and the Well Said stamp sets for her card.

Design Notes for Well Said Retirement Card:

Easel cards are fun to create. I wrote up a tutorial for one awhile back. You can see it here, Tutorial for Easel Card – Portrait. For this card, I used the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch to make a strip that would hold the card up.

I love the new Garden Lane Designer Paper and used it as the background for the front. I thought it looked a bit quilt like. Appropriate since my friend is a quilter!

The joyful woman, from the Beautiful You stamp set, was first stamped in Basic Gray. Next, I colored in her dress, hat, etc with Watercolor Pencils. Finally, I used a Blender Pen to smooth out all the colors.

Retirement – One of Those Milestone Moments!

One of our neighbors is retiring soon, after many successful years in education. As a former teacher and administrator myself, I recognize what a Milestone Moment this is. What will he do with all those early morning hours? No meetings? Will you miss those endless hours of preparation? No courses to take or teach? I’m sure he will find ways to fill those hours, hopefully with fun! The stamp set Milestone Moments called out for this card.

I also used the stamp I call broken ring from the Timeless Textures stamp set to add a little color and interest . But, the really important feature in this card is the Bermuda Bay pattern in the background. It’s created with the new Embossing Paste and one of the masks from Pattern Party Decorative Masks. I had so much fun with the Embossing Paste. First just using it from the jar. Then I tried adding some color. I also tried it on different color papers and tried sponging after it dried. All fun!

Here’s a little video from Stampin’ Up! to show you how to use the Embossing Paste and masks. You will see for yourself how easy it is!
