A Little Joke with Seaside Notions

This week’s Global Design Project Challenge is to feature sun, moon, or stars in a project. I got a bit of an odd idea when I was thinking about what to do for this challenge. I looked at Seaside Notions stamp set and saw the star in the sand dollar stamp. Well, would that count as “star”? I suppose it depends on your sense of humor! Here’s my entry. Do you see three stars?

Design Notes for Seaside Notions Card:

I had fun making this card! I stamped the sand dollars then painted some white glue on them and added glitter. How long has it been since I used Glitter? A long time. It’s messy. Anyway, it looks cool. Then I used one of the stamps and used some Shimmery White Embossing Paste instead of ink for the beach sand. This card ended up being pretty glitzy! Can  you see the shine?

Of course, I also stamped the inside. No glitz, just something subtle.

Do You Hear Wedding Bells?

The son of one of our neighbors is getting married soon. I wanted to make a special wedding card and knew that Woven Heirlooms stamp set would be the way to go. What do you think?

Design Notes for Woven Heirlooms Card:

As you can see, I used a bit of copper heat embossing on this card. The wedding invitation had copper so I thought it would work well. The sentiment is heat embossed as are both of the borders on either side of the sentiment layer. Do you recognize that paper? It’s from the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper. I did something I hardly ever think to do, that is to emboss on designer paper. I think it worked out well on this. Here’s a look at that Woven Threads Designer Series Paper.

The flower is from the lovely Good Morning Magnolia stamp set. I heat embossed it also and then colored in with Watercolor Pencils. After coloring, I used a Blender Pen to smooth out the coloring. The Magnolia Memory Dies made it easy to cut out the flower. The final touch was to add a little knot of the Very Vanilla Scalloped Lace Trim.

It’s a Country Home Kind of Day

The other day it rained, then got just a bit cooler. That evening, we sat on the porch and mused that soon it would be fall. I was inspired by that bit of weather change and this week’s Global Design Project color challenge. Fall was definitely in the craft room air! Grab the Country Home stamp set!

Design Notes for Country Home Card:

When I thought about fall, I thought about the Country Road stamp set. Don’t you love the image of the old milk container with some dried flowers? I decided to Use a Pretty Peacock Blend to color the flower so that it would stand out. I used some Crumb Cake Blends to color the other leaves and a Mossy Meadow Blend for the smaller leaves. Since I don’t have a Merry Merlot Blend (they don’t make one!) I used one of the Stampin’ Write Markers from the Neutrals set to color the berries. Finally, I fussy cut the container and flowers with my fantastic Paper Snips.

Here’s a look at all of the images in the Country Home stamp set.

When I began to put things together, I realized the Very Vanilla piece behind the other layers needed a bit of jazzing up. However, I didn’t want anything to distract so I inked up the Buffalo Check stamp with some Pretty Peacock ink and stamped off before adding it to a piece of Very Vanilla. After stamping and punching the sentiment. My last step was to add some of the great Scallop Linen Ribbon to add color and texture.

Tropical Chic for the Happy Camper!

Ava was at an overnight camp last week. Parents and friends were encouraged to send cards or letters to the campers. Well, you don’t need to ask me twice! I knew Ava would love the bright colors I used with the Tropical Chic stamp set.

And how about the sentiment. I think that qualifies as encouragement. Encouragement is the theme for this month’s International Blog Highlights. I hope you will go over to Kylie Bertucci’s Blog and vote for my card.

My card  is number 4. Here’s a link.  Thanks! If I am one of the top 10 vote getters, I’ll be able to participate in a blog hop later this month.

Here’s what you need to look for. There will be a little heart in the upper right hand corner. Click there and you should get a message letting you know that you voted. Kylie Bertucci's blog Highlights August, '19

Design Notes for Tropical Chic Card:

I recently posted a card where I made a background that looked like Designer Paper. (Check it out here.) That was so much fun, I used that technique again for this card.  I stamped a few extra flowers on Whisper White card stock and cut them out to add a little dimension to the card. The sentiment is punched out the the Timeless Label Punch. Next, I added a bit of Granny Apple Green Ribbon to the bottom of the sentiment piece. I also added some Wink of Stella to each of the flowers but it’s hard to see. Trust me. It added quite the nice little sparkle!

The last little touch was to decorate the envelope with a few of the brightly colored flowers. I’m pretty sure Ava will smile when she sees the envelope and the card!

Daisy Lane Thanks

If you are like me, you always need thank you cards. I wanted to used the Daisy Lane stamp set and came up with this card.

Daisy Lane stamp set, Birch Stamp, Thank You, Daisy Punch, Medium Daisy Punch, Well Written Dies, Stampin' Up!, diannescards.com

I based this card on one I received in a swap. Unfortunately, I don’t have the person’s name to give her credit. Let me know if it’s you!

Design Notes for Daisy Lane Card:

I guess I am really in love with the new In-color, Terracotta Tile. It has a touch of fall about it yet you can use it for summer. So versatile. I used Very Vanilla on this card but it goes equally well with Whisper White. I paired it this time with Old Olive.

The background stamp, Birch, seemed just right. I used Old Olive ink, but stamped off once to achieve a lighter background.

I added a Faceted Dot in the middle of the daisies to add just a little touch of glitz. Like it?

Shopping List for Daisy Lane Card:

Like a sale? Then you need to order the Daisy Lane Bundle and save 10%. It includes the lovely Daisy Lane stamp set and the Medium Daisy Punch. Don’t forget to get the Daisy Punch if you don’t already own it.

Did you earn some $5 coupons in July? Now you can spend them! Check your email for the code number(s) and enter it into your order.
