One of my good friends and downline Janet, and I are going to a crop day on Saturday. Crop days are generally days when scrapbookers get together and work without interruptions for hours, all day and into the night. Doesn’t that sound like fun? I may bring some scrapbooking things but will probably work on things for an upcoming craft fair. I thought it would be fun to make a card for Janet using the It Starts With Art stamp set. It’s just so appropriate!
I also made this card for this week’s Global Design Project sketch challenge. Click on the banner below to see all of the other great projects.
Design Notes for It Starts With Art Card:
I thought this was really a fun sketch. There are so many elements from the It Starts with Art Suite that I used. The background layer is from the great Follow Your Art Designer Series Paper. Have you seen it? What great designs.
It was hard to choose!
I also used a few of the dies from the Arts & Crafts Dies set – the pencils, the binder clip, the paper clip and the buttons border. Finally, I used a few of the stamps. Can you pick them out?
I cut an extra row of buttons and decided to use them on the inside!

National Coffee Day – who knew? I’m ready to celebrate coffee. Of course, what else would I use to celebrate coffee other than the Coffee Cafe stamp set. As it happens, just yesterday I met my friend Marie for coffee. Such a good time. This card is on its way to her.
A veritable cascade of coffee beans!
Design Notes for Coffee Cafe Card:
I struggled a little bit selecting paper for the background. I had originally thought I’d make some pumpkins and go with a Pumpkin Spice Latte theme. But since I don’t like Pumpkin Spice Latte (yes, I hear the gasps) it just wasn’t working. I tried Dunkin’ Donuts (now Dunkin’) colors. Not making it either. Finally, I gave up. Well, not really. I walked away for a few minutes and inspiration struck. Has that ever happened to you? I love the Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper and found just the right piece. The striped piece is the reverse side of the dotted piece. I stamped the coffee beans along the sides.
I used Granny Apple Green card stock for the card base and Tranquil Tide for the layer as these are two of the colors in the striped paper. Isn’t that one of the great things about using Designer paper – color decisions are just so easy.
The sentiment, “Happy Coffee Day” is actually a combination of words from two stamp set, “Coffee” was from Coffee Cafe and “Happy” and “Day” are from Happy Birthday Gorgeous. (I should have made that a quiz question!) I thought the fonts both had a playful look and would work together.
Next, for the inside, I used a sentiment from Coffee Cafe (the same one I used for “Coffee”).
Finally, I added a piece of the Tropical Escape Designer Paper on the envelope flap.

Today I’m taking the ferry over to Cape May and meeting a high school friend for lunch. I’ve not seen her in a few years. I wanted to take something to her and found a few cards I could give her. But, of course, I couldn’t just put them in a bag. I used an Acetate Card Box and made a special card to show through on the top of the box.
Design Notes for Acetate Card Box Project:
Well, when you start with a piece of the Graceful Glass Vellum you can’t go wrong. I just had the best time coloring the different sections with some of my Stampin’ Blends (Rich Razzleberry, Crumb Cake and Pool Party). I adhered it to a piece of Crumb Cake card stock, using some Glue Dots in the dark areas so they wouldn’t show through. The sentiment if from the Detailed with Love stamp set and really is special, don’t you think?
Are you wondering about the Memories & More reference in the blog title? Well, I used one of the tags from the Delightfully Detailed Memories & More Card Pack. Here’s a close up look at what’s in the pack. So versatile! While the set is primarily marketed for memory keeping, no one says you can’t use the parts for card making.
I popped a few cards in the box and added this special one on the top since the sentiment was selected just for my friend.

P.S. Here’s a picture of my friend Jane and myself from high school days! Jane is wearing the dark framed glasses, I am next to her on the right. Oh my, that was a long time ago! (And my hair was so naturally dark…)
Have you seen the new Frosted Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper? It is so beautiful! I used some of it for today’s card and paired it with the Oh So Eclectic stamp set.
The colors are so beautiful together. I really like the Blackberry Bliss and Mossy Meadow together.
Today is the beginning of a new sketch challenge over at Try Stampin’ on Tuesday. Here’s the sketch I used as my inspiration. Click on the sketch to go to the website.
Design Notes for Frosted Floral Card:
I think this paper was one of the first things that I ordered from the new Holiday catalog! I knew i would love it. Here’s a closer look at the papers.
Hard to choose which one to use. They are all so elegant with a pearly look. I think the card is a bit more elegant with the Rich Razzleberry Velvet ribbon under the flower. The flower background was stamped with Blushing Bride ink. Then I stamped the detail of the flower with Blackberry Bliss ink on Whisper White card stock. Next, I took my Wink of Stella and painted all around the flower. The liquid caused the colors to run a bit, which I wanted! A little snipping with Paper Snips and it was done.
I did add a sentiment on the inside, but this card would be great for lots of different occasions. I also stamped the flower detail on the inside and on the envelope.

Did you know that today is Friendship Day? I was not aware of it until yesterday. What a nice holiday to celebrate! I am fortunate to have many good friends and a few really great friends (You know who you are!) I love the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and especially the sentiment, “To a wonderful friend..” Isn’t that the perfect choice for Friendship Day?
I was playing around with the Brusho Crystal Colours. I’m guessing you could tell!
Design Notes for Dragonfly Dreams Card:
I am always a bit perplexed by the colors for dragonflies. Each time I’ve made something with this set, I have to google “Dragonfly colors” to see what looks right. I’m getting closer to something I like with this card. It started with some Brusho Crystals, and a Spritzer.
- First I spritzed an acrylic block with water
- Next, I sprinkled some Brusho, Prussian Blue and Moss Green.
- I pressed a piece of Water Color Card Stock onto the block – more than once!
After this picture, I did add a little of the yellow Brusho to the card stock piece and then used my Heat Tool on the piece to dry and flatten it.
After that, I used the Detailed Dragonfly Die and cut out out the dragonfly. Easy, right?
I thought it needed some sparkle so I traced around the die on the back of some Sparkle Glimmer Paper and cut out the top part. Then I was happy.
