Bye Bye Blended Blooms

Today is absolutely the last day that you can order the Blended Blooms stamp set and coordinating Stitched Season Framelits. I decided to combine a fun fold with the Blended Blooms stamp set for my project for today. Today’s fold is a fun one. It’s called Double Gate Fold.

Blended Seasons stamp set, Stitched Seasons Framelits Dies, Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2, Congratulations, Stampin' Up!,

Because you see both sides of the paper, this is a great card to make with Designer Paper, especially when you can’t decide which side you like best.

Design Notes for Blended Seasons Double Gate Fold Card:

So, it’s called Double Gate Fold because you fold the opening part twice. I’ve written up a tutorial which you can look at and print out Double Gate Fold Card. It’s really pretty easy. Probably the hardest part of this card is not to adhere the Framelit part to both sides!

I stamped the Very Vanilla piece with the wheat sheaf and some Soft Suede Ink. Next, I colored the wheat with the So Saffron Watercolor Pencil. It’s from the new Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2. (That may also not be available after today.) After I sponged around the “Congrats” piece. Finally, I added a little piece of ribbon to add another pop of color on the front.

The inside was pretty simple. I stamped off some of the leaves so that when the card was closed it wasn’t so bare looking.

Because you can get two cards from one piece of designer paper, I made two. One is the reverse of the other. Do you have a preference?

Manly Monday – Darling Label Punch Version

If it’s Monday, it’s a masculine card. Today I am showing a Congratulations card I made for my friend Lee, who achieved Top Salesman for the country in his company! Way to go, Lee! Even though it doesn’t sound very masculine, I chose the stamp set from the Darling Label Punch Box Kit to use for this card.

Unfortunately, Lee may see this card here on line before it reaches his mailbox. Sorry.

Design Notes for Darling Label Punch Card:

Don’t you love the color combination? I was inspired by the colors in this piece of Broadway Bound Designer Series Paper. Then I added the Merry Merlot Card Stock to emphasize the masculine intent of the card.

This card was pretty simple once I selected my papers. I used the Layering Squares Framelits to create the squares and opening. Here’s a little tip for you that will help you save paper. I call it “Hidden Punching”. It work with punching and cutting out with dies. Just cut from a piece of paper that will be hidden by other layers. Here’s what I did on this card.

The piece of Merry Merlot was the perfect background for the label. I cut it from the middle of the Merry Merlot card stock layer. No one is the wiser, well, until now.

High Tide, Stamparatus – a Great Combination!

About two weeks ago, I attended a celebration for a friend of mine who had been elevated to Abbot. When I was thinking about his card, I remembered that his shield bears the motto, “Christ Our Light”.  So I thought the lighthouse from the High Tide stamp set would be appropriate for a card for the new Abbot.

I’m also having folks make this card in my card classes in May. There are some other sentiments that can be used, though this one is pretty good for graduation or Mother’s Day.

Design Notes for High Tide Card:

The light house was stamped with two different stamps. I thought this might be a good time to break out the Stamparatus. I was close to being giddy at the thought! It worked beautifully. I used both plates since the placement of the sand, the basic lighthouse and the detailed lighthouse were important.Stamparatus, High Tide stamp set, Stampin' Up!,

It was so easy to get everything lined up correctly! I made two cards! I used another sentiment from the High Tide set on the second one.

And, did you notice that I added a little Wink of Stella on the sand? It think it added just the right about of sparkle!

Hope you are having a lovely day.

Tranquil Tulips, Final Inking?

Yes, I guess I was striving for tranquil today. In our community, they plant thousands of tulips in a variety of colors. They are just blooming now and yesterday morning I noticed some purple, plummy colored ones. So when I went to use the Tranquil Tulips stamp set, I gravitated to the Perfect Plum ink.

Tranquil Tulips stamp set, Naturally Eclectic DSP, Congratulation, Stampin' Up!,

Here’s a picture of one of the tulip beds here that was my inspiration.

Now if only we’d get some warm, spring like weather.

Design Notes for Tranquil Tulips Card:

After I stamped the stems and tulips, I thought the Tranquil Tide card stock would make a nice background. However, against the Whisper White card stock, it just wasn’t working. I found a piece of the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper that had just the right colors. The Petal Burst Embossing Folder  gave the paper a little texture. Next,  I used some Whisper White Classic Weave Ribbon. A Sponge Dauber helped me change it from Whisper White to Perfect Plum. If you have Whisper White ribbon, ink and daubers, you can have any color ribbon!

I added the “congratulations” sentiment from the Beautiful You stamp set but this card could fill in for lots of different occasions: birthday, thank you, even sympathy. I often leave the cards I make without a sentiment until I know what I need them for.

Supply List for Tranquil Tulips Card:

The Tranquil Tulips stamp set is a Hostess Set, That means you can only purchase it if you host a party or place an order of $150 or more. Study the Retirement Lists. You can probably come up with things you want to get to total $150 or more! Then, you can purchase the Tranquil Tulips set for just $10 with your Hostess Benefits!

Retirement is Calling:

Retiring, Stampin' Up!,

Have you looked over the Retirement Lists? There are two lists for items that will no longer be available after May 31 (or while supplies last). One list is for items from the Annual Catalog and one is for the Occasions Catalog.

Ava, You are Amazing!

I’ve long thought Ava was pretty amazing. (Ava is the 12 year old daughter of my goddaughter.) She began middle school in the fall. New school, new teachers, new friends. Lots to deal with. Despite all of that, she earned all A’s on her latest report. AWESOME!  So, naturally a card was in order. Celebrate You Thinlits were the perfect thing

Celebrate You thinlits, Congratulations, Stampin' Up!,

This is a pretty simple card but I think it suits her. Nothing to distract from AMAZING!

Design Notes for Celebrate You Card:

I finally broke out my Petal Passion Designer Series Paper. What have I been waiting for? This black and white paper has several sheets that call out for coloring. I used the Stampin’ Blends to color in the flowers. You know. I love to color. Here’s a good look at the paper.

Really, is there anything better than the combination of black and white?
