You Are Strong and Beautiful!

A dear friend of mine has been studying for a few years now to become a Certified Financial Planner. Her big exam is coming up soon and I want to be sure to encourage her in any way I can. She is indeed strong and beautiful. The Strong and Beautiful stamp set has some great sentiments to offer her encouragement while preparing for her exams. Here’s what I made for her.

Today I am participating in Kylie Bertucci’s Blog Hop. Recall that about two weeks ago I asked you to vote for my card? Well, I got enough votes to participate in the blog hop. Thanks!

Design Notes for Strong and Beautiful Card:

Using Window Sheet to create an interesting card front is fun and easy. I cut off about 3″ of the card front, added the window sheet on the inside then added some of the card front back. It’s best to stamp your sentiment before you decide how big to make the opening so that you have all of the sentiment showing!

The flower was made from some stamped and punched Daisy images using the Daisy Lane stamp set. I decided to sponge the individual daisies before putting them together.

Some Flax Ribbon and a Gold Faceted Gem finished off the card.

A Little Joke with Seaside Notions

This week’s Global Design Project Challenge is to feature sun, moon, or stars in a project. I got a bit of an odd idea when I was thinking about what to do for this challenge. I looked at Seaside Notions stamp set and saw the star in the sand dollar stamp. Well, would that count as “star”? I suppose it depends on your sense of humor! Here’s my entry. Do you see three stars?

Here’s the banner for this week’s challenge. Be sure to click and go over to see all of the great projects.

Design Notes for Seaside Notions Card:

I had fun making this card! I stamped the sand dollars then painted some white glue on them and added glitter. How long has it been since I used Glitter? A long time. It’s messy. Anyway, it looks cool. Then I used one of the stamps and used some Shimmery White Embossing Paste instead of ink for the beach sand. This card ended up being pretty glitzy! Can  you see the shine?

Of course, I also stamped the inside. No glitz, just something subtle.

Do You Hear Wedding Bells?

The son of one of our neighbors is getting married soon. I wanted to make a special wedding card and knew that Woven Heirlooms stamp set would be the way to go. What do you think?

Design Notes for Woven Heirlooms Card:

As you can see, I used a bit of copper heat embossing on this card. The wedding invitation had copper so I thought it would work well. The sentiment is heat embossed as are both of the borders on either side of the sentiment layer. Do you recognize that paper? It’s from the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper. I did something I hardly ever think to do, that is to emboss on designer paper. I think it worked out well on this. Here’s a look at that Woven Threads Designer Series Paper.

The flower is from the lovely Good Morning Magnolia stamp set. I heat embossed it also and then colored in with Watercolor Pencils. After coloring, I used a Blender Pen to smooth out the coloring. The Magnolia Memory Dies made it easy to cut out the flower. The final touch was to add a little knot of the Very Vanilla Scalloped Lace Trim.

It’s a Country Home Kind of Day

The other day it rained, then got just a bit cooler. That evening, we sat on the porch and mused that soon it would be fall. I was inspired by that bit of weather change and this week’s Global Design Project color challenge. Fall was definitely in the craft room air! Grab the Country Home stamp set!

Design Notes for Country Home Card:

When I thought about fall, I thought about the Country Road stamp set. Don’t you love the image of the old milk container with some dried flowers? I decided to Use a Pretty Peacock Blend to color the flower so that it would stand out. I used some Crumb Cake Blends to color the other leaves and a Mossy Meadow Blend for the smaller leaves. Since I don’t have a Merry Merlot Blend (they don’t make one!) I used one of the Stampin’ Write Markers from the Neutrals set to color the berries. Finally, I fussy cut the container and flowers with my fantastic Paper Snips.

Here’s a look at all of the images in the Country Home stamp set.

When I began to put things together, I realized the Very Vanilla piece behind the other layers needed a bit of jazzing up. However, I didn’t want anything to distract so I inked up the Buffalo Check stamp with some Pretty Peacock ink and stamped off before adding it to a piece of Very Vanilla. After stamping and punching the sentiment. My last step was to add some of the great Scallop Linen Ribbon to add color and texture.

Perfect Parcels and Petals – Part 2

You may recall a week or so ago, I posted a card made with the Parcels and Petals stamp set. (Check it out here.) I promised you that I would show you something that showed the Parcel part of the set. The Perfect Parcels dies make really perfect parcels!

Dianne Keough Diannescards.com Images © Stampin' Up! 2019

I made these adorable boxes as door prizes for my classes this month. Each box is filled with Hershey Miniatures, individually wrapped!

Design Notes for Perfect Parcels Boxes:

These boxes were so much fun to make. The dies, of course, made it easy. Remember, whenever you are making a box or container, use Tear & Tape to be sure it will stay together. Here’s the box, before belly band.

The belly band was a strip of the Mosaic Mood Specialty Designer Series Paper and some Scalloped Linen Ribbon topped with a sentiment and background piece. The sentiment and background piece were also cut from dies in the Perfect Parcels Dies set. I finished it all off with one of the Bird Ballad Trinkets.

Oh, are you wondering what I put inside? There are so many choices. But, I went with my fallback, Hershey Nuggets. I wrapped each one with some Mosaic Mood Specialty Designer Series Paper.

Nine Nuggets fit comfortably in each box. I probably could have fit in a few more!
