I’m Not the Only One Who Makes Cards…

For me, one of the best parts of the holiday season is receiving cards from friends both far and near. And, as you might imagine, I have a number of friends who also make cards! I thought it would be fun to share some of the cards I’ve received. Keep this post bookmarked. You’ll want the inspiration next year when YOU are thinking about making cards!

When I return, I suspect I will have more cards to share!

Thanks for stopping by today.

My Last Christmas Card!

Joyous Noel Designer Paper, christmas, Timeless tidings stamp set, Stampin' Up!, Diannescards.comA few years ago, I decided to make a few different cards rather than just one card to send to our friends. Today I’m showing the last one I’m sending this year. The Joyous Noel Paper made it so special.

If you follow my blog faithfully, you will recognize the fold. It’s called accordion fold. I did a tutorial for this fold awhile back and even designed this card as part that.  Here’s a link to that tutorial Directions for Accordion Card.

I made more than one version of the card, by the way.

Let’s Go Dashing Along! To A Sale!

I think it was during October that Stampin’ Up! offered the Dashing Along Designer Series Paper as a bonus for holding an event. I had some some of the paper was disappointed when it was no longer available. Guess what! It is back in stock. I was usingthe last bits of it to create these little treats for my friends. Oh, scroll down a bit to hear about the Sale!

Do they look familiar? I made something similar at Thanksgiving. Check out that post here.

Design Notes for Dashing Along Treat Holders:

Really, believe me, these are so easy.

  1. For Ghirardelli Square, cut paper 4″ x 4″.
  2. Use the Envelope Punch Board and score and punch at 2″ on all sides.
  3. Fold on score lines.
  4. Add a little adhesive on the bottom flap.
  5. Close and decorate with twine, thread or thick ribbon. Add a sprig if you like.

Let’s Shine a Little Light!

Each year, during my December card class, I have an extra project for my friends to make as a little gift from me. This year everyone is making a Seasonal Tea Light.  It will be easy to make and so cute. Here’s my sample.

Tea light, Seasonal Tea Light, Seasonal Layers dies,Sweetly Stitched Dies, #GDP167, Stampin' Up!, diannescards.com

I also decided that this would be perfect for this week’s challenge over at Global Design Project.

Design Notes for Seasonal Tea Light:

If you have a Simply Scored Tool, your life is made so much easier! I’ve made these tea lights before and also made a video. The tea light in the video has the same dimensions but is decorated differently. I used the Seasonal Layers Dies  for the snow flake and the Sweetly Stitched Framelits  and the Twinkle Builder Punch for the trees.

The measurements for the vellum are 4″ x 8 1/2″ and score at 2″, 4″, 6″ and 8″.

Broadway Bound for Manly Monday

I know I used the Broadway Bound Specialty Designer paper for masculine cards before. But today’s card is a little different. I want to show you how you can use just a small piece of Designer Paper to add some pizzazz to a card front. Generally, I use a larger piece for a layer. This card is also quick and easy to make, #simplestamping.

Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper, Picture Perfect stamp set, Masculine card, birthday, Candle embellishment, Stampin' Up!, diannescards.com

So red and green don’t have to be just for Christmas!

Design Notes for Broadway Bound Card:

I used a 2″ wide strip of the Designer Paper to anchor the design. You could get 12 of these 5 1/4″ long strips from just one sheet of 12″ x 12″ paper! The colors came from the Designer Paper. Aren’t they great together?

After stamping the sentiment from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set on some Whisper white card stock, I realized that it needed something to make it pop a bit. So I simply punched another circle with the 2 1/4″ Circle Punch and set it behind the sentiment. Just what it needed. The Candle Embellishment was just the right accent.

I also stamped and decorated the inside!
