Custom Tee for a Classy Guy

On Sunday, Jerry and I attended a benefit concert at Neumann College in Aston, PA. Our good friend Jack Giamplami sang with the Brass Tacks Orchestra. It was a great event for a great cause. At one point the orchestra played the theme from “Rocky”. Jack then came out and showed an “Italian Stallion” tee shirt. He then threw the shirt out into the audience. Guess who caught it! Since Jack’s birthday is coming up, I thought I’d use Custom Tee to make his birthday card and throw it his way.

Here’s Jack’s t-shirt.

Jack, sort of, wearing the shirt!

Design Notes for Custom Tee Card

I understand that the t-shirt was part of a long ago Halloween costume. It reminded me of a basketball t-shirt and so I used the Wood Texture Designer Series Paper to simulate a basketball floor.(Obviously not the parquet of The Boston Garden.)  I cut the paper into 1 3/4″ in strips so that it would look more like a floor! It was a little bare looking so I added some stars from one of the stamps.that made me happy.

For My Lovely Friends

Over the weekend I was able to see three of my dearest friends. Yesterday when I needed to do a swap card using new stamps, I immediately thought of the Lovely Friends stamp set. The sentiments are so perfect and remind me of how lucky I am to have such great friends.

Lovely Friends stamp set, Lovely Laurel Framelits, Friend card, Stampin' Up! ,

This stamp set is in the new catalog which will go live on June 1. I can hardly wait.

Design Notes for Lovely Friends Card:

I mentioned how much I love the sentiments in this set. They are so sincere. The font is also lovely. but, in addition to great sentiments and a great font, there are some flower and leaf stamps in the package. Winner! Winner! If you look closely at the card, you can see the flowers are all made with two colors, Berry Burst and Powder Pink. First I stamped with the Berry Burst then the Powder Pink on top. It is so easy to do with the clear, photopolymer stamps. For the larger flower, I stamped on a piece of scrap and then cut it out with a Framelits from the Lovely Laurel Framelits set.

This set is available as part of a bundle with the Lovely Laurel Framelits dies.

Hope you are having a good day.

Tag in a Minute with Better Together

Whew! Yesterday I needed a tag for a baby gift. I had forgotten about the tag to be honest. I was feeling pretty smug that I had the gift and had it gift bagged. Then there was the tag. So, I grabbed the Better Together stamp set and VERY quickly made a gift tag. I’ll admit, nothing fancy but somewhat impressive nonetheless.

I like to think of it as simple elegance.

Design Notes for Better Together Gift Tag:

Really, it’s almost embarrassing to imagine I need to give you any hints about the best way to make this.

  • Cut paper. The Whisper White piece is 1/2″ narrower than the Soft Sky.
  • Stamp. I used Pacific Point ink. I thought the contrast with the Soft Sky would be good.
  • Adhere / Punch. Adhere the two pieces of card stock, then use the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch to complete the deal.
  • Add ribbon.

See, it’s embarrassing.

But aren’t there times when you need something – QUICKLY!?  I’ll give you this hint – layers.

Take a Peek at This Little Piggy

Oh my gosh! Wait until you see this stamp set, This Little Piggy. It is just so cute. I played with it all day yesterday. Two swaps were on my “To Do” list so I used this stamp set for both. I wanted to do one more card and “Hogs & Kisses” just called out to me.

Third, I made this card using one of our Whisper White Note Cards. Guess what! In the new catalog, there will also be Very Vanilla Note Cards and Envelopes. Happy Dance!

My final touch on this card was a little strip of ribbon. The new Berry Burst In–Color Woven Ribbon is great to work with. It’s light and pliable but not going to fall apart.

So, there are four things on this card that are new. Can you figure out what they are? I’ll tell you at the end of the blog post.

Papers and Inks and In-Color Ribbons, Oh My!

Well, the new catalog will be live soon and there are so many great new products. I want them all!  Ribbon is a particular weakness of mine and the new In-Color Ribbons are just the best. The colors are yummy and the ribbon itself is terrific. It’s 1/2″ wide and is woven. Very cool.
