My dear friend, Ann, lives in Maine. I don’t get to see her nearly often enough. So, when her birthday came around earlier in July, I wanted to make a special birthday card. I knew she would love something stamped with the Rose Wonder stamp set. It’s so beautiful. You really can’t miss when you use it with the Rose Garden Thinlits.
I was pretty happy with how it turned out.
Design Notes for Rose Wonder Birthday Card:
Since I knew I wanted to use my Aqua Painters, I stamped the rose and leaves with Basic Gray Archival ink. I like to use gray when I’m painting as it doesn’t seem to overwhelm the colors. Also, since I was going to be using Aqua Painters, I used Watercolor Paper. That way, I knew that I would not have problems with the paper pilling or getting warped. I used the ink refills to color in the flower and leaves. If you are just doing a small area with the Blender Pens or Aqua Painters, you can just squeeze some ink from the pad onto the lid. When it’s a larger area, it’s just easier to use a few drops of ink refill. After the ink was dry, I added a few layers of Wink of Stella. I think you can even see it in the picture. It’s usually hard to see in a photo. But, I used three or four layers of Wink
I did use the thinlits for the sentiment. I stamped the sentiment in Old Olive then trimmed around the edge of the stamped image. Next I cut a piece of Gold Foil paper with the die and adhered the Happy Birthday to it.
